Next Film: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them- Weds 29th March

As per the past couple of years, I am planning to screen a child-friendly film close to the Easter break. I have booked the auditorium, Academic Centre, Maidstone Hospital for Wednesday 29th March (next week, just before the schools break up) and will screen Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3183660/ rated 12A)
Please do come along and bring the kids (children not a requirement though, so don’t feel that you can’t attend if you don’t have any to bring!). I will open the centre for refreshments at 6pm; film to start at 6.30pm. As always donations to help me cover the costs will be welcome, and I will also have charity collection boxes out for anything else you can spare towards my marathon fundraising efforts for Children with Cancer UK.
For more information contact Emma Aldrich x24784 or x35871 emma.aldrich@nhs.net
Hope to see lots of you there! Wands optional.

Resource of the Month: Clinical Knowledge Summaries

Each month the Trust Library Service will be promoting a different product available for all members of staff.

This month it is Clinical Knowledge Summaries (http://cks.nice.org.uk ), a website which provides primary care practitioners with a readily accessible summary of the current evidence base and practical guidance on best practice in respect of over 330 common and/or significant primary care presentations.

It is free to use and does not require an Athens log in to access.  The topics are checked and updated regularly and new topics are added each year.

Try it today at http://cks.nice.org.uk

Display for March- Medical Humanities

For our March display, we have decided to celebrate the Medical Humanities activites and events held at MTW.  We have created a bulletin on the topic and also have displays in both Libraries.

Did you know that the MTW Libraries run a Film Society?  Recent films we have shown at the Academic Centre, Maidstone Hospital are The BFG, Me Before You and The Girl on the Train. These film events are FREE to attend for MTW staff and we show the latest DVD releases and also welcome screening suggestions.  We also supply drinks and snacks before the screening so a small donation towards that is very appreciated.  To be added to the mailing list to hear about our next Film events, please email Emma Aldrich: emma.aldrich@nhs.net

That's films.....we also run a Book Club! The Book Club meets at Tunbridge Wells Hospital Library every 6-8 weeks and the books we have recently discussed are Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier and Philomena by Martin Sixsmith.  We are a small group but have room for more members and also welcome reading suggestions.  Please email Alison Millis: alison.millis@nhs.net to be added to the mailing list

You can borrow from our vast DVD collection, we have over 200 DVDs between the Trust Libraries that you can borrow for FREE for 7 days at a time. Come and have a browse, there's bound to be something for the weekend!

We also have a Leisure reading collection at both Libraries and the Richard and Judy Book Club books which you can borrow.

For our World Book Day celebrations, we are running a Film and Book quiz. Click here to enter and you could win a £20 Amazon voucher! Closing date is 30th March.

Come and find out more about Medical Humanities at you local MTW Trust Libary today!
