Pressure ucler procedure from ClinicalSkills.net- part 3

From ClinicalSkills.net:

As mentioned last week, the new addition to clinicalskills.net this week is the third and final part of our new series on Pressure Ulcers. Part 3 is on “Treatment of pressure ulcers”. Again, demonstrated by Claire Walker, Lecturer at the University of Liverpool, this part covers:

·      Choice of dressings
·      Debridement: Autolytic, Biological and Sharp methods
·      Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)
·      Removal of dried dressing, assessment of pressure ulcer
·      Irrigating, cleansing and dressing the pressure ulcer

·      Continuing patient care

This final part of the Pressure Ulcers series accompanies Part 1, which is on “Risk assessment, skin assessment and care” and Part 2, which is on “Repositioning and early mobilisation”.

Go to the Library resources page on the MTW intranet to access this new procedure on ClinicalSkills.net (no log in required) or access off-site at www.clinicalskills.net with an OpenAthens account.  To find this new procedure, you just need to put the term “pressure ulcers” into the Search field on the Procedures page, or alternatively, go to either the Adults or the Primary Care sections, and visit either the Wound Care or the Wound Care in Primary Care category.
