Resource of the Month: Clinicalskills.net

Each month the Trust library service will be promoting a different product available for all members of staff.

This month it is Clinicalskills.net which is a brand new resource for CSWs, student nurses and nurses.

Clinicalskills.net includes more than 200 guidelines on clinical skills procedures all in a highly illustrated step-by-step format.  It is also QUICK & EASY to use.

Filtering your UpToDate search

Tip: Use search filtering and other quick tools to get to the right answer, quickly.

The UpToDate search is designed to get you to the answers to your questions as quickly and efficiently as possible. You also have the flexibility to customize how and what information is visible. The navigation options provide easy filtering, multiple language preferences and a personalized view of the search results. When conducting a clinical search, take advantage of these options: Search in your preferred language: Choose your preferred language from the search box or top navigation.  Search by disease, symptom, lab abnormality, procedure or drug: UpToDate also recognizes many common medical abbreviations. Filter search results: Toggle buttons to the right of the search box allow you to filter your search results.  Customize the search results: Search results include a list of the most relevant topics and the most commonly accessed content within a topic.  Choose Collapse results at the top right to display only the topic titles.  Select it again to expand results. Scroll over a topic title and see a full topic outline.  Or, choose Hide Topic Outline to reduce the amount of content on the screen.  Select it again to show topic outline. Libraries closed for staff meetings

Both Trust Libraries will be closed between 1pm-3pm TODAY Monday 28th September for a staff meeting.

Medicine display for September

Each month the Trust Libraries create a display and resource bulletin on a clinical topic.  For September, it is MEDICINE.  The display is on show at both libraries and the resource bulletin (which lists our top medicine resources and other library resources and services ) can be accessed here. REMEMBER, the libraries also hold many general medicine books on the shelves in the WB section

The Medicine bulletin is available here. All the other Library resource bulletins can be accessed on our website.

You can access e-journals such as The BMJ, The Lancet and Medical Clinics of North America and e-books such as 100 cases in acute medicine by K Layne and Medicine: a competency - based companion by J Israel via the library catalogue www.southeastlibrarysearch.nhs.uk  .
