MTW Trust Formulary now online

The New MTW Formulary website

Thanks to the hard work of the Pharmacy team lead by Jane Caisley and Kim Fenner all staff now have access to a new on line Trust Formulary. In the past the formulary was published every two years in book form which was not only very labour intensive but the book was out of date almost as soon as it was produced.

The formulary website, which is fully searchable, contains not just a list of approved medicines but also the Trust Antibiotics Policy, an extensive range of guidance on medicines use and answers to some of the most frequently asked questions put to the Trust Medicines Information Centre. It can be updated in minutes for example to reflect the latest decision of the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, product shortages or new medicines safety data.

Although the website is primarily intended for Trust staff use it is accessible on the World Wide Web so that the information can be viewed for example by staff on-call from home, local GPs and healthcare staff from other organisations. It may even be browsed via a suitable web enabled mobile phone.

The web formulary presents important information on safe and cost effective medicine use in an attractive an easy to use form. It can be found at www.mtw.nhs.uk/formulary/. Why not bookmark it on your PC now!
